From Old City to Wayne, across the county lines

The housing changes from block to block. Center City, Old City and Queen Village are dense 18th and 19th century brick rowhouses with low-slope roofs, and much of Old City falls under the Philadelphia Historical Commission. Germantown, Mount Airy and Chestnut Hill have stone houses and historic districts where roof work visible from the street may need review. Lansdowne, Haverford and Springfield are Delaware County towns of twins and single-family homes with pitched roofs.

Camden, Pennsauken, Collingswood and Cherry Hill are across the Delaware in New Jersey, and they follow New Jersey's home improvement rules and the municipal permit, not Philadelphia's. Each area page says which state and which permit office apply.
